A NOTE FROM ASHLEY
Hi! I'm Ashley.
Visiting here is a choice you have made for yourself, and a meaningful one. Choosing a therapist is a personal decision, and it is important to find someone you feel comfortable with. Here's a little about myself and my approach to help you decide if we might be a good fit.
Perhaps you're reading this because life has been feeling heavier than it used to:
-
You keep saying this week will be different — with drinking, or another habit — and by Friday the same pattern has won.
-
Getting through the day feels heavy, and your confidence has quietly worn thin.
-
Your child or teen is struggling — with school stress, big feelings, or friends — and you're not sure how to help.
-
You and your partner keep having the same fight, and feeling close is getting harder.
-
Life changed, and you're still trying to find your footing in the new version.
Or maybe everything looks fine from the outside — and you're tired of carrying the difference alone.
Much of my experience is with adults working through substance abuse and addiction, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and life-adjustment challenges. My work with clients centres on building resilience — supporting them as they learn how to redefine their lives by creating new ways of being.
Children and adolescents are a dedicated part of my practice, supporting them as they gain the skills and tools they need to face the road ahead. I have experience helping children navigate concerns including test anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, emotional regulation, grief and loss, family difficulties, and social challenges. Developing a space where children and adolescents feel comfortable sharing and managing their emotional and behavioural difficulties matters a great deal to me, and I collaborate with parents to best meet their child's needs.
Couples are part of my practice as well, using a Gottman-informed approach, supporting them in improving communication, deepening emotional connection, and managing conflict in healthy, constructive ways.
My services are person-centred and empathetic, for individuals of all ages — viewing each client as the expert in their own life, and capable of change. The counselling process can feel freeing and cathartic: a space to explore fears, insecurities, and difficulties adjusting to life. I approach the process with sensitivity, as growth opens the way to a richer sense of life and well-being.
Alongside my clinical work, I'm an active member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, and my graduate training is in clinical mental health counselling
However you found your way here, I'm glad you did. Your story is welcome here.

Shaping your therapy: My Approaches.
No two people need the exact same thing from therapy. That is why we will work together to find the approach that best fits your unique story and current needs. The modalities listed below are the evidence-based approaches I most often integrate into sessions and introduce skills and tools from. The value of the therapeutic relationship is that it provides a supportive space to explore these tools, find or reclaim your voice, and carry that strength into your everyday life.

BEGINNING THERAPY
A Simple Guide To Our First Session.
01
Simple Preparation
After booking, you will receive an email with a brief intake form to complete before our appointment. This covers essential consent details, practice policies, and some helpful background. For couples, both partners fill one out; for children, a parent takes care of it. Once submitted, you will receive all the practical details for our meeting—including parking directions or your secure video link.
02
A Space To Be Heard
Our first meeting is about getting to know you, rather than trying to solve everything at once. We will have a down-to-earth conversation about what has been going on in your life, explore the challenges you are facing, and discuss what you hope will be different. By the end of this first conversation, we will have a shared sense of how we can best work together and a direction for moving forward.
03
A Collaborative Rhythm
We will work together to find a pace that keeps you feeling secure while still helping you grow. You don't have to share everything on day one. As we build trust, I will support you, but I will also gently challenge you and offer new perspectives to help you move forward.
