  • How long is each session?
    Each session is 50 minutes in length. You can request a longer session with your therapist and fees will adjust accordingly.
  • How much does each session cost?
    Individual Sessions - $150 total per session Couple / Family Sessions - $180 total per session
  • How many sessions would I need?
    Our team of therapists takes a person-centered approach to their client's needs and creates a treatment plan unique to them. In general, most clients will have a few sessions close together (ie - weekly, or bi-weekly), and then once they have developed some coping strategies and tools, they begin to decrease frequency.
  • How does Insurance/Benefits work?
    As accredited mental health professionals, the services of the therapists at Wellness Counselling Centre are recognized by many insurers. Please note that it is the responsibility of the client to verify with insurance providers if their specific benefits plan includes coverage for the services at Wellness Counselling Centre. It will be important to check if benefit plan coverage includes the services of a Registered Psychotherapist. Helpful questions you can ask to check your coverage may include: Do I have mental health insurance benefits for services provided by therapists of Wellness Counselling Centre? What is my deductible, and has it been met? Does my place cover a certain amount of sessions per year? What percentage of coverage do I receive per therapy session? All services provided at Wellness Counselling Centre are tax deductible. An official receipt is issued for each session after payment has been received, which you may submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
  • Do you offer sliding scale fees?
    Wellness Counselling Centre does offer a sliding scale, on a limited basis, to assist clients who do not have insurance and require a reduced rate. Please feel free to speak to your therapist and see if this is applicable and/or available to you, if necessary.
  • How do I make payments?
    Payment is due at the end of each session and will be processed through the Jane App credit card system, e-transfer to payment@wellnesscc.ca, or cash (please note we do not carry change in the office). Once payment has been received, a receipt will be sent to you via email. This receipt is what you will submit to your insurance company, and/or keep for year-end tax deductions. Please note that payment will need to be made for any balance owning before the next session can take place.
  • How do I get myself or my child started?
    To book a session and begin the quick intake process, you can choose to: ‘BOOK A SESSION’ now by creating a profile (this option provides the quickest means to booking a session) OR Email our office at info@wellnesscc.ca. Please note, that we aim to respond to all emails within 2 business days. OR Call and leave a message at 905-359-9456. Please note that we aim to respond to all messages within 2 business days. In choosing the “Book A Session” button, you will be prompted to create a profile within Jane App. This profile will be the profile you use to access your virtual appointments and in-person information. Please note, that this profile will require you to provide a valid credit card number, which is stored in a highly encrypted vault, to secure your first appointment. Your credit card will not be charged until the day of your appointment; if you prefer to pay by cash or e-transfer at the time of your appointment, you are welcome to do so. Your credit card will be used only to hold future sessions; for processing payment after the session (unless paying by cash or e-transfer); or for processing payment for late cancellations or no-shows; There is a free Jane App available to download to your mobile device, should you be using it for virtual sessions. Please note that Safari does not support Jane App, and Mac users will need to utilize Chrome or Firefox for virtual sessions.
  • Cancellations, Late Arrival & No-Show Policy
    Wellness Counselling Centre understands that with today’s busy lifestyle you may periodically need to reschedule your session. In order to ensure best use of time and provision of service to as many people as possible, to cancel or reschedule a session it is required that you notify your therapist through your Jane App profile, email, or by calling office at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled session. Late cancellations or no-shows will be automatically charged for the session through the Jane App credit card system. Please understand that if you arrive part way through your scheduled time, your therapist will see you for the remainder of the time, and you will be charged the regular session fee.
  • How do I get a link for a virtual session?
    We use a PHIPPA compliant platform that is created for those within the health sector, called Jane. You will receive a link to the email address you have provided us, about 30 minutes prior to your session. You are welcome to download the Jane App on your mobile device, or your tablet. If you are using a laptop or desktop computer, you will not need to download anything. Please note though that Jane is not supported by Safari, so if you use a Mac, you will need to use Chrome or Firefox browser. If for some reason Jane is unavailable for your session, or there is a glitch and it is not working, your therapist will email you link to another PHIPPA complaint platform we use for back up. purposes.
  • Is there parking at Wellness Counselling Centre?
    Wellness Counselling Centre is located at 11 Bond Avenue, Suite 103 H, which is in a professional building in downtown St. Catharines. The building has TWO free parking spots off Geneva Street for clients. If either is available, you are welcome to use one. If they are unavailable, there is metered parking on the streets. Metered parking is $2.00 per hour between the hours of 9:00 am - 6:00 pm and is free outside of those times. The meters accept quarters, loonies, and toonies, or you can use the Honk Mobile App to pay for parking as well.
